A Denver builder that stands behind its work.

An owner leads each job, so you hear clearly from us from the first phone call through the closing walkthrough. You receive a dated written schedule, pricing broken out line by line, and workmanship we would be glad to have in our own homes.
We are licensed, insured and proud of every project that carries our name. If you are weighing a remodel, an ADU or an outdoor build, we would be happy to talk it through with you.

What every client can count on
Careful Planning
Layouts, materials and finishes are settled in 3D before demolition. You see the finished space ahead of time, and we hold off on construction until you approve the plan.
Straightforward Communication
You get a weekly written update and one person to call, from day one to the last walkthrough. No chasing for status, and no guessing who is on site.
Made for Colorado
We pick materials, fasteners and details to withstand strong UV, hail, snow, dry air and freeze-thaw, the conditions Denver homes face every year.
Remodeling costs across Denver in 2026
The truthful answer to "how much will this run?" is that scope matters more than square footage. Swapping cabinets and counters in the same layout is a very different job from removing a wall and rerouting plumbing. The ranges below reflect what we see around the Denver metro in 2026. Every project is priced as a fixed, itemized written estimate before work starts, so the figure you sign is the figure you pay, and any change order is quoted in writing first.
| Project | Typical 2026 Denver range | What shifts the number |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen remodel | $30,000 – $110,000+ | Cabinet level (stock, semi-custom or custom), countertop material, and whether walls or plumbing shift. |
| Bathroom remodel | $14,000 – $55,000+ | Shower size and waterproofing, tile choice, vanity, and whether the drain moves in a slab. |
| ADU construction | $180,000 – $400,000+ | Detached or garage conversion, size, utility runs, zoning and permitting. |
| Deck | $9,000 – $40,000 | Material (pressure-treated, cedar, composite or ipe), height and railings. |
| Covered patio | $17,000 – $50,000 | Attached or freestanding, roof type, and whether a new slab or electrical is part of the job. |
| Pergola | $6,000 – $28,000 | Cedar, steel or louvered aluminum, and a fixed versus adjustable roof. |
| Outdoor kitchen | $18,000 – $70,000+ | The appliance package and the cost of bringing gas, water and power to the spot. |
Two choices consistently stretch a budget without cheapening the result: leave the plumbing where it is, and decide where the money should go. Cabinets usually take 30 to 40 percent of a kitchen budget, so a solid semi-custom line can free up more than downgrading counters or tile. In a bathroom, keeping the shower drain in place avoids cutting and repouring the slab. We go through these trade-offs at the free estimate, well before you commit.
These ranges are general guidance for the Denver metro and vary with the home, finishes and scope.
How much time a Denver remodel really takes
Most of a remodel's calendar is not construction. It is design decisions, product lead times and permit review. Cabinets alone can take 4 to 12 weeks to arrive, which is why we finalize the design and order long-lead items ahead of demolition. Permit timing varies too: the City and County of Denver runs its own review, and suburbs like Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada and Centennial each have separate building departments with their own queues. We submit during design so review runs alongside it instead of holding up the job.
| Project | Design + permitting | On-site construction |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen remodel | 3 – 6 weeks | 6 – 12 weeks |
| Bathroom remodel | 2 – 4 weeks | 3 – 6 weeks |
| ADU construction | 2 – 5 months | 4 – 8 months |
| Deck | 1 – 3 weeks | 1 – 3 weeks |
| Covered patio | 3 – 6 weeks | 2 – 5 weeks |
| Pergola | 1 – 3 weeks | 1 – 2 weeks |
| Outdoor kitchen | 2 – 5 weeks | 3 – 6 weeks |
A dated written schedule arrives before demolition begins and is refreshed every week, so you always know which trade is on site and what follows. If something slips, as it occasionally does when a wall opens up and reveals what no one could see, you will hear it from us that same week.

Materials we use and how they perform in Colorado
The Front Range is hard on building materials. Strong UV at a mile high, hail, heavy snow, wide temperature swings and expansive clay soil all shorten the life of the wrong product. Here is what we specify and the reasoning behind it.
| Category | What we build with | Why it lasts here |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinetry | Plywood-box semi-custom and custom lines in painted maple, white oak or walnut | Plywood handles humidity swings and the odd appliance leak far better than particleboard. |
| Countertops | Quartz, granite and quartzite indoors; concrete and stainless outdoors | Quartz resists stains without sealing, while granite and quartzite tolerate heat and heavy use. |
| Shower waterproofing | Sheet or liquid membrane over a correctly pre-sloped pan | Most shower failures come from waterproofing, not tile, and this layer decides how long the shower lasts. |
| Decking | Cedar, composite (Trex, TimberTech) and ipe hardwood | Composite will not splinter or fade the way wood can under strong high-altitude sun, and it is easier to maintain. |
| Patio & pergola framing | Cedar, powder-coated steel and louvered aluminum | Well-anchored footings and coated hardware stand up to Front Range wind, snow and freeze-thaw. |
| Fasteners & flashing | Hot-dip galvanized or stainless hardware with flashed ledgers | The hidden parts fail first, and the right hardware plus ledger flashing keeps a deck tight for years. |

Answers to common Denver remodeling questions
What should I expect to pay for a kitchen remodel in Denver?
Most full mid-range kitchens in Denver land between $50,000 and $95,000 with semi-custom cabinets and quartz counters. A refresh in the existing layout often starts near $30,000, while high-end or structural projects begin at $95,000. MKN Construction & Remodeling puts every kitchen into a written, line-by-line estimate.
And what about a bathroom remodel?
Budget roughly $14,000 to $26,000 for a simple update, $26,000 to $50,000 for a complete mid-range primary or guest bath, and $50,000 or more for large or structural projects. Relocating a drain in a slab is the largest single cost factor.
Who handles the permits?
We do. MKN Construction & Remodeling prepares and files the required building and trade permits and books each inspection, whether your home falls under the City and County of Denver or a nearby city like Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada or Centennial.
How long does a typical remodel last?
A kitchen generally needs 6 to 12 weeks on site after 3 to 6 weeks of design and permitting. A bathroom takes 3 to 6 weeks on site, decks and pergolas take 1 to 3 weeks, and ADUs take 4 to 8 months to build. Cabinet delivery of 4 to 12 weeks is often the true schedule driver, so we order before demolition.
Which parts of the Denver area do you cover?
We work across Denver and the Front Range, including Aurora, Lakewood, Centennial, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Littleton, Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Castle Rock, Broomfield and Golden, along with Denver neighborhoods from Washington Park and Cherry Creek to Highland and Park Hill.
Does the estimate really cost nothing?
Yes. The on-site estimate is free and creates no obligation. We take measurements, discuss what is possible and prepare a written, itemized price you are welcome to compare with any other bid.
Is MKN licensed and insured?
MKN Construction & Remodeling is a licensed and insured Denver contractor. Structural, electrical, plumbing and gas work is permitted and inspected, and anything that requires a licensed trade is done by licensed professionals.
Can the price rise once work starts?
Not unless the scope changes or we uncover something truly hidden, like failed wiring inside a wall. Either way, the change order is quoted in writing and needs your approval before any work happens.
Do I have to move out while you work?
For most bathroom, deck, patio and outdoor jobs, no. During a full kitchen remodel most families stay and set up a temporary kitchen. At the estimate we cover dust control, containment and how long the disruption will really last.
Could my Denver lot hold an ADU?
Denver permits accessory dwelling units in many residential zone districts, but lot size, setbacks, height and utilities determine eligibility. We review your property at the free consultation so you know what is realistic before paying for design.
When could you begin?
That depends on the season and the size of the project. Since cabinets carry a 4 to 12 week lead time and permit review adds more, starting design early means getting on the schedule sooner. Call (720) 336-0481 to ask about current availability.
